London Edition is the perfect fun hotel

Dimitris Kossyfas | 22 November 2016

Hotelier Ian Schrager and Yabu Pushelburg introduced the London Edition hotel to savvy and wealthy travelers back in 2013 when they joined forces with Marriott International. It’s no wonder Schrager returned to where he had his initial success back in 2000, when he had first set foot on Berners Street and launched the Sanderson hotel.

Formerly known as the Berners Hotel, the building was made up from five Georgian townhouses that were combined in 1908 and were a great example of the Belle Epoque feel. Although some light touches on the outside were retained, the hotel space was completely revamped with Schrager putting his own style in the interiors.

What you make from it when you visit is a sense of pure flirting. The staff are really nice and friendly, the high-ceiling lounge is welcoming and the rooms are dimly lit and comfy. Berner’s Tavern, a grand salon nextdoors, offers great English breakfast (try the granola!) but also other delicacies during lunch and dinner. A place for many business meetings, the London Edition is also ideal for a fun night out. After 6pm you’ll definitely see a crowd downstairs making you wonder on your way out whether you should instead stay in for the night!
