Kastelorizo is a well-known small Greek island located in the southeastern Mediterranean sea. In this post though, I’m not going to introduce you this Greek “diamond” but the glam “Kastelorizo” restaurant that is located in Athens Riviera and specifically in the southern suburb of Varkiza.
“Kastelorizo” is located on Poseidonos Avenue near the Varkiza coves (aka Limanakia Varkizas), for more than ten years now attracting guests for its exceptional menu, the great view and the cozy environment. The best way to reach it, is by car or by taxi and will take almost 30 minutes from the centre of Athens.
The raw materials that are used for cooking and the fresh fish from the Aegean sea, constitute the main “palette” of art of taste that comes to your dish. The menu satisfies the most demanding guests with a wide range of yummy dishes.
During our visit we ordered a seasonal salad with aged vinegar and extra virgin olive oil, smoked aubergine “politiki” salad, Symi shrimps lightly battered in corn flour, mussels simmered in flavored vegetable broth and wild oregano, crab kritharoto, small fish and for dessert some orange pie bites. White wine of course accompanied our tasty lunch.
The view from “Kastelorizo” towards the seaside and the picturesque Varkiza marina created the feeling of being on an island. Unparalleled aesthetics, earthy colors with an apparent marine element, created a friendly and ideal environment to feel the sea breeze. Finally, the friendly and happy staff welcomes you from your entrance to your exit and always stands by you to service.
