Proper French baguettes and high quality freshly-baked bread in Athens is hard to find. But with the recent opening of Tromero Paidi in Ilisia that’s no problem at all. Just make sure you visit early enough in the morning, as daily items are limited.
Country style bread
As the world of hospitality re-opened after the Covid-19 lockdown in Athens, Tromero Paidi was one of the first few places we visited. Moments away from the hip coffee spot Lot 51, Stefanos Livanios and Christos Pappas created an immaculate white space out of their love for baking. The two first met in Paris where one was studying at Le Cordon Bleu and the other one was working at the bakery of the famous Thierry Marx. Convinced to change the way Athenians consume bread, they launched this tiny spot with an effort to promote high quality goods.
Housed in the corner of an old low-rise house, Tromero Paidi features highly elegant aesthetics in white and glass with produce neatly arranged in small quantities. After all, their motto is that everyday they offer 8 different varieties of bread each of which are matured and baked on the spot. Apart from bread they also have a series of desserts (think lemon tarts and honey lemon cakes) on which we’ll get our hands on our next visit!
