Talat Market’s “Georgian Thai” is doing its appearance every weekend from Friday to Sunday, serving excellent traditional Thai food for dinner. With a different menu every week, using organic and locally-sourced produce and meats as much as possible, this Candler Park neighborhood gem is so worth all the buzz about it as of lately.
There was a bit of a wait till we get ourselves seated- there are no reservations, it’s a first come-first sit but you won’t even notice as there are a few cute tables outside to hang around while you wait bringing your own beverage (that’s how it works at the moment- there’s also a market to get your own drinks nearby), or else you can taste Talat’s drinks of coconut infused water or freshly cut coconut.
We sat at the bar watching the Thai magic happening on the grills, getting in those cute little ceramic plates. There are five different dishes (six with the dessert) which you can order and the choice of jasmine rice or sticky rice to go along with them.
Everything we ordered was delicious and full of Thai flavors, with those of coconut, chillies, ginger and cilantro being the protagonists. Their Grilled beef with mint, cilantro and chillies was out of this world and we ended up ordering it twice. The Fried sweet potato noodles with pickled cucumbers and ginger, the Poached shrimp with turnips, roasted coconut, peanuts and red chili jam and the Deep fried soft shell with curry powder, celery leaf and peppers were also cooked to perfection and the ingredients’ combo bringing out such a simple, fresh and aromatic meal overall, exactly what I needed.

We were so full at the end that we missed trying the Thai tea ice cream with coke(!), the only dessert on the menu, but we’ll be back real soon for it:)
