Every so often, a new place crops up the coffee scene in hop Athens. And Anana was surely one of those when it first launched back in 2019. Anana coffee in the corner of Praxitelous and Hryssospiliotissis is perfect if you’re looking to escape the Greek culture and dive into the vegan and hip brunch sphere of Athens.

Specialty coffee is what they do and this is how this whole place came about originally. Panagiotis Xylas is leading the coffee front, responsible for roasting but also curating all of the delicate singe origin grains you’ll get to taste. If you happen to stumble upon their Ethiopia variety make sure you taste that! Together with Katerina Manola and Valantis Fragkos, they wanted to create a space for vegan, eco-conscious delicacies with their banana bread (made by the hands of Eri Karagkousi) being their signature one.

Although I had stopped by for a quick caffeine fix a million times in the past, it’s only recently that I tried their brunch. And it surely rocks! We had the most delicious french toast in Athens, sprinkled with a salted caramel sauce, some cinnamon and berries on the side. And for savoury, although we struggled to make up our mind, we opted for their mushroom spread – a yummy flatbread with sun dried tomatoes, cheese spread, wild rocket and a hint of truffle oil.

The interiors are colorful and funky, with the patio outside emanating a 60s vibe from the good ol’ urban Athens when offices were housed round this space here. Most of the times you’ll find this busy during the weekends, but do visit before noon and you’ll definitely get a table at the back. Enjoy!
