Granted, sometimes I’m fast on the trigger when it comes to judging really popular places. But with Yacht Club, right by the bay of Limanakia in Serifos, I was admittedly wrong. This place is the epitome of island life be it morning, early evening or night. From traditional breakfast to sipping coffee just after sunset busy with people watching to drinks at night, the music is on! And what a playlist – so good!

As you go by their beautiful elevated terrace, you take note of the funky chairs, the traditional narrow tables and the light blue wall in the background making the perfect array of colors. The service staff is super attentive and smiling, the view to the sea soothing and the breakfast on offer (up to 7pm each day… well night really!) super delicious – try their Naftikos Omilos combo! A delicate omelette with ham, feta cheese and tomato, coupled with two thin slices of grilled rustic bread with honey. Or opt for the more creative Cosmo breakfast, poached eggs with bacon, local Gruyere cheese and apricot jam.
What else is there to say?

At sundusk the theme shifts to more cinematic tunes and super tasty desserts. Even though they boast about their pastaki dessert, a soft local treat made from chocolate and biscuit, you should definitely go for their karydopita (pecan pie for Greek), ideally served with a scoop of kaimaki ice cream.
At night things tend to be simpler, even they do a decent Negroni and also serve up specialty spirits like the Japanese Roku gin – best served with lots of ice and a lime twist.
Oh, Yacht Club you’ll be missed!
