Located on the downhill road to Koumpara beach, Polydoros is one of the few traditional tavernas you’ll find on the island. It serves delicious home-cooked treats, also featuring daily specials, that make for a perfect post-beach lunch after all the sundaze.
Polydoros Pouseos and his family opened this taverna in 1986 and have been tending their favourite dishes to travelers and locals ever since. Local goat in the oven, rooster with pasta, braised beef, imam aubergines, moussaka and pastitsio served in clay – everything you could ever wish for!
The staff, all locals from the island, are super friendly and ready to recommend something from the daily specials. One thing that doesn’t change is the tsimetia, zuchinni flowers stuffed with rice and hers – the one thing you should not miss. We visited a few times whilst visiting the island and ordered it every single time! The place is open from June to October and if you’re lucky you may also get the rabbit special, cooked in the oven and served with french fries –Â yum!
