New restaurant openings come plenty around this part of the tow, but the launch of Atlas in Ano Kypseli did make a buzz. Before everyone’s gotten hot about it, we paid a visit and left the scene raving. Well done team!
Set in one of the few leafy corners of Kypseli, Atlas opened its doors in late August 2025 and immediately had the crowds lining up. Something about that sweet September vibe in the city with tanned faces and lots to talk about certainly had a lot of the cool kids going.
We visited Atlas on a sunny Sunday afternoon, hoping for a quiet lunch in Kypseli — and left more than impressed.
The space itself feels instantly welcoming: earthy tones, terrazzo details and a long marble counter at the bar that sets the mood somewhere between laid-back and chic. By the time the first glasses of wine arrived, the place had already started filling with chatter and tanned faces from the weekend.
Food-wise, Atlas leans on the comfort of meze but with a thoughtful twist. We kicked off with their tomato salad — simple yet full of flavor, the kind of dish that reminds you how good local produce can be. The tomato fritters followed, crispy-edged and fluffy inside, with that unmistakable island taste that takes you straight to the Cyclades. Alongside it we got two main dishes, one of which was their super tender grilled liver. And then the oven-cooked beef stew came — slow-braised until melt-in-your-mouth tender, hearty enough to soak up with thick slices of pastry puff.
Sharing plates is the way to go here, and it’s easy to lose track of time as the table fills with dishes. The wine list is short but well chosen, with small Greek producers in the spotlight, and cocktails are light, refreshing and made to keep the conversation going.
Atlas may only have opened in late August, but it already feels like it belongs — a spot where you can drop by for a casual bite and end up staying until sundown.
