Tucked away in the heart of Athens, Kennedy is redefining the bar scene with a perfect blend of exceptional sound, handpicked wines, and refined design. Audiophile and music enthusiast Christos Kondos has created a space where music takes center stage, featuring an impressive sound system that plays curated CDs and vinyl from his personal collection. Expect evenings dedicated to immersive listening experiences.

It’s a Friday night and I’m out meeting a friend who’s visiting from London for a couple of days. He’s a well versed journalist and in fact joining our PM for an interview at a conference in Athens. Admittedly, he’s been around the globe and also knows a thing or two about Athens. So when thinking of where to go for a drink and nibble tonight, the options are limited. I’ve seen that Kennedy magazine has recently launched a cosy little wine bar downtown Athens that seems to be striking the right balance between hip and authentic. I’m not entirely sure of the vibe or the food offering but I can bet on Kennedy’s aesthetics.
A little while later we make it to the bar and get a couple of stools at the narrow hall. Music is coming from the back that almost sounds like someone’s playing live. The bar’s warm, retro-inspired interior reflects personal touches from Kondos and his designer wife, Athina Delyannis. Custom-made furniture and historic mirrors from the legendary Ideal restaurant on Panepistimiou add a nostalgic charm.
We order some wine (wine lovers will appreciate the unique labels imported directly from Alsace) from the selection that evolves frequently with every bottle is offered by the glass. While there’s no cooked food, we dip onto Kennedy’s menu for some delicious artisanal delights: Aggonari cheese from Ios, charcuterie from Kermes Farm and sourdough bread from 72H down the road. Delicious!
Kennedy is more than a wine bar – it’s an experience for the senses, combining fine taste with a genuine love for sound and storytelling. You should soon venture out for an intimate night out.
