Athens has lately been reinventing itself, more an dmore making a name in the upcoming urban citybreak destination list. With lots of talk around a revamped city centre (with more pedestrian areas, biking lanes and the likes) already underway, there are new spots opening up left and right. Concept store Minu is not like others, combining flowers, furniture and coffee – all available for sale!
having initially opened up its doors to the public in late January 2020, Minu took some time off during the coronavirus pandemic but is now back offering an al fresco outpost during sunny days in Athens. As you walk down Sarri street in Psyrri you hardly notice the elegant white sign. If you’re amidst those in the know, you make your way towards the back where some comfy couches await for you. If not, you wander around for a few seconds trying to figure out what this place is about. Scandinavian design and eclectic objects all around, lots of flora and a nice bar stocked with some healthy bites and good coffee.
Giorgos Syrmas, owner and founder of this hip concept store, launched this place in an effort to up the cool from the bygone era of Psyrri neighbourhood with a uniquely fresh space full of natural light and breezy air. Alongside him, Qoop and the Hyle design and architecture studios created very elegant interiors also featuring a room at the back with a sandy flooring and a high ceiling with lots of light to unwind in.
At your next visit, don’t forget to put on your flip flops on and enjoy!
