With Zurich’s brunch scene not being the top one, it’s so comforting when you find a spot like Bebek. Elegantly designed, this two-storey Middle Eastern restaurant with high ceilings, ornate chandeliers & outdoor seating is just what you need for the perfect Sunday meet-up.
We arrived early on a Sunday morning just before the crowd started flocking in. Thankfully, the space is comfortably designed with lots of space to unwind in. The area downstairs is mainly used for coffee and breakfast with the lounge upstairs mostly suited for drinks later on in the day. Outside, the typical colored chairs await for the summer days.
Along we sat in a communal table waiting for new guests to arrive. Service was quite prompt with lots on the menu to choose from. The Middle Eastern twist is indeed a funky one, although here some of the dishes were toned down to suit the tastebuds of the Swiss.
The fried eggs over rosti were really delicious, which were also ordered with bacon on top. Another very tasty one was the Menemen egg dish, paying homage to the much-loved shaksuka. In addition, a breakfast basket arrived with some fine bread and a croissant, as well as lots of different nibbles like avocado spread, butter and jam.
All in all a perfect setting for a comfort Sunday in good company and food.
