Located just three blocks away from the White House, Founding Farmers has been a destination for both tourists and locals since its opening in 2008. The restaurant is owned by American farmers families, whose products are all fresh, while most of them are made from scratch.
The first time I visited this place, there was a 2 hour waiting time, but since it is named one of the most visited restaurants in DC, I wasn’t surprised.
First tip: reservations are highly suggested!
After booking a table for a Sunday afternoon, I got the chance to finally try out their delicious brunch. It is a busy space with a modern, rustic ambience, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. As for their customer service, from the time we arrived to the time that we walked out of the restaurant, everyone was friendly, kind and fast.
For starters, you could order a Mimosa or one of the different types of tea that they offer, but as a coffee lover, I could not resist a hot delicious cappuccino.
The assorted varieties of eggs made it difficult to decide but eventually I picked the crab benedict (with French fries for the side, of course!) which turned out to be a great choice! You may also want to try the traditional benedict with ham or the ranch steak & eggs (server’s recommendation).
Portion sizes were generous, but even if you feel you had too much food, you can’t leave without trying out the whipped blueberry buttery pancakes!
