Located in the area where the old Tank House near the water, Cluny Bistro was the brainchild of Distillery Restaurant Corp, who amongst others own El Catrin, that opened in 2014. The space is divided into a formal dining room, a more casual bar, a café and bakery for takeaway, and a large wraparound patio for the summer days.
Walking around the heigh-ceiling space gives you a grandiose feeling of how dining rooms used to be in the past. With an emphasis on good customer service and great food. The baguettes are freshly-prepared and stacked on top of the brunch table, napkins are folded and the chefs get to work filling the oyster bar with all fresh delicacies of the sea. Meat is sourced from Alberta, Canada, and some seafood sourced by Maine, Massachusetts.
The menu is more or less simple. The Frenchy, a juicy beef bourguignon burger over a sauce that has been reduced for 48 hours, is their real treat! The fish of the day, cooked in broth, is also good and then there are classics like the steak frites. But what really hits you is the freshness of the sea that emanates from the big Maine oysters – second to none!
