Tucked away at the back of a central junction in Ebisu, Sushi Matsue is probably one of the many sushi places in Tokyo but one of the few that are so worth it. An intimate omakase experience of high quality fish sourced daily from Tsukiji market, serving (mostly) locals since 1964. No Michelin star and no hype to it… just a rewarding and warm experience at one of the best omakase in town!
We walk out from Ebisu metro station and headed towards the back end of if, only to find a quiet small alley with ceramic tiles on the wall and a small sign to the right of the door. Reservations are a must around here and the options are two: an original omakase experience by the sushi bar or a more intimate space upstairs for parties of 2 or more. The omakase comes with sashimi, grilled fish, and an incredible amount of sushi. Lunch can be quite a bargain but dinner is reasonable enough as compared to other omakase in town.
