Little do you notice when you go past the small village of Krokos. The twisty roads take us to this quiet breakfast spot and it’s astounding how the team has set-up on the best offerings on the island. If you’re in Tinos and want to try tasty breakfast treats, Krok Mesie it is!
Yiannis Psaltis decided to move back to his hometown and wanted to use his backyard (where he had spent most of his childhood years) in order to create a homey breakfast spot. With more than 25 years in the dining scene of Athens, together with his wife he launched Krok Mesie in 2018.
The name of the spot is a wordplay of the famous french dish croque monsieur, also hommage to the name of the village Krokos. Filled with all sorts of different versions of the French toast, Krok Mesie does an impeccable job in creating unique dishes!
We tried their omelettefilled with volaki Tinos cheese, louzafrom Mykonos, pomodorini tomatoes and a drizzle of honey and it was delicious! Their savoury version of the French toast with feta cheese was also super good, but our all-time favourite has been their French toast with tahini, honey and cinnamon!
PS. Mobile reception is very poor in this dreamy spot (even though they have WiFi) so apart from some good company, you may want to bring a magazine or book 😉
