Launching an all-day coffee space in a town where drinking coffee is the prime activity all-day long should be easy. But the team at Ypsilon café is trying to innovate and attract the art scene, apart from the busy students and early innovators (yes, you guessed right, these are the ultra-kool kids) that have taken note just as this space opened a few days back.
Boasting high ceilings and a Beetroot-influenced design (thanks to Vangelis Liakos), the long and wide space got recently transformed, featuring aesthetics the town of Thessaloniki had never enjoyed. As we lay eyes on this new venture, we take note of the black-uniformed quirky staff, the really good music from the main’s space DJ booth and the sense of ease this space emanates right as you walk in.
Serving coffee, drinks and a short menu of (mostly) sandwich bites all-day long, the team opened Ypsilon in late August 2017 and is already thinking of making this even better. How do you do that? Attract the young, the artsy, the talented! Upstairs is an immaculate and light-filled space waiting to house the next bright minds of the city as this co-working space is about to launch. Interested? Drop them a line, or better yet, drop in for a quick shot of espresso (or gin!).
