The beach of Platys Gialos is one of the most popular sandy beaches of Sifnos. Apart from its natural beauty, Platys Gialos is home to a great variety of restaurants. From Greek traditional tavernas, to an authentic Italian restaurant and several all-day beach bars, visitors can simply choose what they crave . However, ever since 2013, Omega 3 has become the talk of the island and is justifiably the #1.
Giorgos Samoilis has been manning the crew in the kitchen ever since day 1 and every once in a while he refreshes the menu with some really creative dishes. Coming with heavy food experience, George also likes to travel abroad a lot during the winter where he gets his creative vibes (think Brazil!).
The restaurant is quite small, offering a casual dining area right on the seashore. The design is simple; large wooden bar tables and bar stools, focusing on wood and white colors. The menu is well thought based on fresh fish and ingredients, where they’ve created small sharing dishes so you can choose a couple to try out. All dishes are influenced from Sifnian and Greek tastes under global inspiration.
The environment is perfectly set for you and your companion to enjoy a chill bottle of white wine along with your food. Even though the menu fluctuates every year adding new tasteful options, some of our favorite all-time classics are the following. Start of your meal with some white fish-roe (tarama) mousse, string beans and the Brazilianm pao de queijo with fig jam. Don’t miss out on the fresh steamed mussels with wine sauce, the tiradito (seriously YUM YUM YUM!), the tuna tartar and the lobster orzo.
I honestly love this place so much that I could just say “try out everything!” Omega 3 is so focused on providing its customers with an amazing overall experience that you can’t easily be disappointed.
Tip: Try to plan your visit in advance! There is a two-hour policy for each reservation, and trust me there are lots of reservations every day, especially during high-season.
