Owned by an Italian family, Mamma Mia has been serving traditional Italian fare since 1988. Pippo Miano, the owner, together with his two sons and wife serve delicious food in two great locations in Sifnos. You can choose between lunch/dinner by the sea at the Platis Gialos beach, or the cosy atmosphere in Apollonia.

The restaurant attracts both tourists and locals, while reservations are highly recommended during the high summer season. The majority of the staff is Italian, who are always more than happy to guide you through their food and wine menu. The smells of fresh pasta and pizza passing by the table makes you even more hungry, so quickly decide what you’ll get!

I always start with their seasonal salad and a focaccia, but I also recommend getting the carpaccio di polpo, as a starter. A lot of options to go with for pasta, amongst which the tagliolini freschi ai ricci di mare (fresh pasta with urchins) and their delicious pesto spaghetti. If you’re lucky enough you might try the phenomenal Caserecce Boscaiola, only served in their “today’s special” menu, with fresh mushrooms, saffron and black truffle. Make sure to include their homemade pasta in your order but definitely don’t miss out their authentic pizza (any pizza you get is equally enjoyable). Buon appetito!
