News: Michelin-starred chef unveils restaurant at Paris-Gare du Nord

Hosted | 28 November 2016

Michelin-starred chef Thierry Marx has opened a new restaurant at Paris-Gare du Nord.

Specialising in molecular gastronomy, Marx received two stars in the 2016 Guide Michelin for his restaurant Sur Mesure at the Mandarin Oriental Paris. He opened L’Etoile du Nord in Gare du Nord on November 19.

The restaurant is organised into three areas: the fournil, or oven, which offers quickly-prepared dishes; a zinc-clad wine bar; and the brasserie, traditional restaurant which has a full multi-course meals.

Speaking about the opening, Marx said: “L’Etoile du Nord is much more than a restaurant—it is a vibrant hub of city life with innovative architecture set to become the heart of Paris-Gare du Nord station.”

The restaurant has been created as part of an initiative by the National Society of French Railways (SNCF) to improve dining options in France’s railway stations. Michelin-starred chef Eric Fréchon opened a restaurant in Paris-Saint Lazare in 2013 and other Michelin-starred chefs are set to open restaurants in Paris-Montparnasse and Metz by 2018.
