New York: Osamil, the Korean Gastropub you need to visit

Anastasia Hassiotis | 30 May 2017

Need a name? What about translating the address?… 5 West 31st street or else 5- Oh, 3- Sam, 1-il, in Korean. In the heart of KoreaTown, a Korean Gastropub, called Osamil, caught our attention and so should yours.

We certainly all know about the tradition of Korean cuisine and in particular Korean BBQ, but this restaurant has managed to successfully blend modern and traditional elements of this cuisine and its dishes to offer a memorable dining experience.

This gastropub is the perfect nightout location for a dinner during the week or a chill Saturday night. At the entrance there is a big bar with some barstool tables, which give customers the ability to enjoy a pleasurable cocktail along with a small bite. Did I mention I love their marble based bar?!

The dining area is mainly based on wood, while the design on the walls, with bottles of alcohol and sake, and the open kitchen space brings out a modern aspect in the environment.

Now if you’re on a diet, you should stop reading now and perhaps choose another dinner spot. On the other hand, if you are a fried food lover, then just follow my instructions and you’ll definitely have fun!

For starters, you should try out 1 or 2 skewers, whether thats the short ribs, the spicy chicken or the eggplant. Don’t miss out on the Chef’s beef tartare! As for the small plates, choose among the chicken wings, the honey butter chips, the potato & zucchini pancake and the Osamil kimchi sausage, or just simply get them all!

Looking for a main course? You can easily share the Kimchi fried rice & steak or the Osamil steak & fries.

Enjoy!
