New Yorkers always seek new places to try out, new cuisines to taste (if they are any left), and eventually their next #1 on their list. Well for those who’ve been living in NY for some years now, Bunker Vietnamese is definitely a familiar place and the good news is they’ve moved to a bigger and brighter location.

In 2013, right in the heart of an industrial area in Queens a small Vietnamese place made its debut, a place where just a few months later people would queue up to taste some authentic dishes. However, due to the fact that the kitchen was small, along with the restaurant’s location and capacity, Bunker recently moved to its new colorful place in Bushwick.

Fun, colorful, entertaining & authentic. These are just some words that come on my mind when thinking of this place. Take your squad or your significant other and make a trip to Bushwick for a great dinner. Be prepared though, the place gets usually very crowded as the owners have made sure that there’s lots of music, dj’s and live events to keep everyone entertained.

The menu is quite long offering a variety of appetizers and main courses. The summer rolls (cold) with peanut sauce are very tasteful and fresh, while the Banh xeo with bacon or mushroom is a dish you should try. On another note, the chicken noodle soup with rice noodles and jalapenos on the side, is my choice and just the right portion to share.

But the real deal comes on the main course side. There are 13 different options and you’ll probably have a hard time to choose one. My top choices are grilled lemongrass wild shrimp, mushroom fried rice and pastured chicken curry.
