As a real foodie, I must say I’m a real amateur of these sweet, round, chocolaty and both gooey and crispy little cakes. For me, in order to be perfect, cookies must be thick but still melting, fluffy, soft, and warm. In one word: COM-FOR-TING!
Levain Bakery reached perfection with their simply orgasmic chocolate chip walnut cookies. This little shop with an unremarkable façade opened in 1995 and is located on the Upper West Side. For those who’ll say it’s a bit far, trust me, it’s worth it. No matter how long it takes you to get there. The bakery has become a mandatory stop for every person who comes to visit me in NYC!
The shop offers a variety of different cookies and other pastries. But my advice is to go for their traditional chocolate chip walnut cookie. If you’re in the mood for a less conventional choice, try their chocolate and peanut butter ones. You’ll like those. One thing to know; bear in mind that these cookies are exquisite but extremely heavy. You might enjoy a little digestive ride in Central Park after grabbing your precious biscuit.
Anyway, we’re only in February. There’s still plenty of time to put those extra-winter-pounds on, right?
