Rainy and cold as it may be, a good ol’ brunch on a winter’s Sunday morning at Motel Morris is just about as cosy as it can get in busy New York. Wholehearted dishes, wood-rich interiors and friendly staff blend in beautifully as patrons go in and out of this cute diner on 7th avenue.
Imagine you’re on the road somewhere out of state (yes, that’s US talk for outside a busy city) and you stop in at a motel for a hot cup of coffee and something comforting to nurture the soul. That’s exactly the feeling you get as soon as you walk in the door at Motel Morris. The host greets you, no snob commentary here, and joyfully sits you at the bar whilst waiting for a table (or better yet a booth) to become available. After all, just as in the same way you wouldn’t be planning for that stop along your highway roadtrip, at Motel Morris reservations are not really required. The bartender offers himself to mix a drink, or coffee, whilst you wait and the odd loner at the bar makes his way in. A good mix of workers, high society achievers, cute couples and friends is the norm around here. As for the food? Hearty enough to keep you going through the day.

Crispy romaine lettuce salad with chargrilled chicken

Crispy chicken sandwich
The burger is a must, juicy as it should be, although if you really wanna go American you should order the crispy chicken sandwich. Filled with classic coleslaw sauce and a proud pickle on the top, it comes with Mesclun salad just enough to freshen your heavy bites! Salads are also good, especially the crispy romaine lettuce one that you can top up with some of your favourite protein: think chargrilled chicken!
The slow music in the background keeps on playing as the rain makes way for some partial sunshine and the day goes by gently. After all, a good Sunday is a Sunday spent with your significant other and/or friends. And Motel Morris can certainly be home for that all. Pop in!
