Neapoli is granted not the first place one would travel to in Greece and the Peloponnese. Bu tif you ever find yourself there on your way to the island of Kythira perhaps, Naftis is the place to visit for some quick tasty meze!

Reaching the port of Neapolis you should budget for a good 45min to 1hr for a nice refreshing stop and some traditional Greek delicacies. The meze place Naftis has long been a favourite in the area with Panos Billinis being in charge of the simple and captivating offering here. The walls are filled with various memorabilia of the seamen lives and a traditional stove tucked away in the corner where they set a hot jug.

Set in a high ceiling old seafront building filled with light blue Greek coffee place tables and chairs, Naftis quickly captures the eye as soon as you set foot to the mosaic tiled floor. The menu is quite simple with salads, omelettes and some meat and seafood dishes where you really can’t go wrong.

We tried their tomato salad, lushed in Greek extra virgin olive oil and some dried oregano – dead simple and super tasty! The grilled bread that came with it was also a good addition and enough for us to indulge into the popular salad bread-surfing sport! For starter, we tried their golden boiled potatoes and their grilled crunchy octopus. And finally, we had a generous portion of good ol’ omelet for main before we headed off to the port – absolutely delicious.
