London: Un-traditional Sunday Roast at Cross Keys

Cross Keys is a gastro pub hidden between Kings Road, Chelsea and river Thames, definitely not what one expects from a British Pub. But go on a Sunday for a roast feast as traditional as it can be. Doors open at 12 p.m, families and friends start to flock in to enjoy the cosy setting.

The dreamy leather couches contrast with wood and stained windows give the place a hipster diner vibe. Our meal started off with the light but yummy bulgur salad with roasted orange and red beetroot accompanied by hummus with home made sourdough from their A la carte menu.

For Sundays, the pub offers a special roast menu, among options are pork belly, roast beef and roast half chicken. The roasts are all served with several sides, creamy bread sauce and gravy you’ll want to drink out of the pot, as well as crunchy roast potatoes, broccoli, and stuffing.

The Cross Keys Pub, first opened its doors in 1760s, and has been there ever since.

The pub offers a seasonal a la carte menu as well as a bar area to enjoy nibbles and snacks like honey oven baked brie on toast, charcuterie, cheese, olives and nuts. For a big meal, go for the burger. If you happen to go during the week, try the potato gnocchi with soft poached egg or the Cumberland sausage with red wine jus from their current menu. Oh, and the Bloody Mary is perfect for every occasion.
