Sardinia is a location that comes to mind for summer vacation, but I strongly recommend it in off season periods of the year. There is one place in particular where I go to detox from the city and that is Albero Capovolto.
Located in the north side of the island, this family house is in the heart of the country. The owner, Alessandro, decided to convert his family house in a B&B. His design oriented background and extreme attention to detail have contributed in creating the perfect atmosphere. Every detail is studied, but the look seems casual and laid back. Enjoy reading a book by the pool or an aperitivo in the garden with typical cheeses and wines. When I visit this beautiful family house, I usually get lazy and stay within the premises during the whole period of my short stay. The house is cozy, yet there are various spots where you can enjoy a quiet space for meditation, or sit in the patio and chat with other guests. Breakfast is just amazing, the choice of salty and sweet is endless, and the standard and quality of it all is up to the level of a luxury hotel. The bread is handmade and juices are freshly squeezed.
Dinner time is a fantastic moment, as the owner has a full time chef that cooks in the family kitchen with local ingredients. The menu changes every evening, and the offering is delicious. Alessandro, the owner is a fantastic host, he is present in every moment but discrete at the same time. He is the heart of the house and his meticulousness is visible in every detail of the B&B.
