Some things are classic, just like wurst is in Germany. And while Hamburg may lack that Bavarian tradition, it still has Gröninger private brewery going for it! An underground beerhouse and brewery with tasty sausages and other meat delicacies you’ll want to get your hands on. It’s one of the oldest beerhouses in the city but one that still has the crowds flocking in.

This is where Gröninger Pils is brewed, which patrons can tastein the Braukeller or in the Brauhaus where it is tapped from old wooden barrels. The atmosphere in these cosy and most traditional of premises is quite unique, especially if you’re visiting with a big group. The menu is not that exciting but with some fine wurst, some home-baked bread and a couple of other pork dishes (think suckling pig and roasted pork knuckles) what’s not to love about this casual joint in the midst of winter?

Oh, and they also do a tasty big burger that’s quite a treat!
