An old mansion that was built in 1850 has now been transformed into a restaurant named “To Arxontikon”. Serving a variety of Cypriot and Greek dishes, To Arxontilon has their very own wine cellar and a lovely quiet backyard and is one of the few reasons to visit Larnaca!

The place is quite casual and the service is good. Playing some good ol’ Greek folk from the past, it doesn’t take much time for one to start appreciating the details behind this place. After all, to start with the mansion itself is quite unique and has recently been restored to its current form and shape. Beautifully painted and carefully brought back to its original condition of the late 1850s.
The menu is quite extensive so be prepared to experience a wholehearted meal. Although the waiter advised us not to order too much, we couldn’t resist the temptation of the meze variety which was actually a treat. Despite the fact that the traditional sheftalia was not that bad, this wasn’t really the highlight. Highlights were definitely the soft cheese puffs, the grilled mushrooms, the meatballs and, of course, the tender and deliciously marinated chicken skewers. Oh, and did I mention the perfect rooster with tagliatelle? Covered in a perfectly sweet tomato sauce and coupled with a tangy grated dry cheese, it was the perfect ending to a nice meal!
The patio at the back is quite nice, especially for the evening, and the whole aura that emanates from the building is quite astounding. With a good enough menu, reasonable prices and ice cold KEO in our pint glasses, we’ll definitely be coming back soon!
