News: peach tree blossom puts Veria on the touristic map
With a rich cultural heritage at the ancient site of Vergina and a picturesque architectural backdrop at its old city, it’s still puzzling how Veria was not on travelers’ map up to now. Finally, this is starting to change thanks to the pink valley of peach trees during Veria’s blossom.
Every year there is a phenomenon unique to the Greek countryside, similar to the flowering cherries of Japan. From the beginning to the end of March, the fertile plain of Imathia is transformed into a vast pink sea of thousands of blooming peach trees!
The peach tree, in the traditions of the East, is considered to be "the Tree of Life of the Earthly Paradise" that provides people with life and joy. Peach blossoms symbolize spring, rebirth and as a result fertility, and have been inspired by great painters such as Van Gogh.
Veria Tourism Club organizes this year a series of actions aiming at highlighting and experiencing this unique phenomenon, including bike tours, a photo contest. Make sure you get the latest on the official facebook page of the Veria Tourism Club.
