London: see you at the Termini, the best cocktail bar around, saluti!
No one can argue the perks and infinite options for entertainment when living in a city like London.
However, believe it or not there are not many places you want/can call your local unless it’s your local pub, which it just happens to be yours and few other’s with double your age. It was a couple of months ago that on a random rainy evening I found refuge in this tiny establishment in Soho. It looked like I was entering a very old espresso bar at the back side of a train station somewhere in the old classic Rome.
The atmosphere, cosy but fresh coming from the aromas of the freshly cut orange slices ready to dive in bright amber spritz’s. The music classic Italian and on the surrounding walls, postcards from famous costieras views.
I made my way straight to the bar where I was offered the signature spritz which contains gin too. Perfetto! Chic Italians next to me were enjoying the house negroni as if they never had anything else in life and we were exchanging glances as if we knew each other from ever…la vita e bella!
Usual smiley Italian faces in white aprons happily serve with finezza ,offering some of the so much needed to accompany your perfect cocktail nibbles. Prosciutto crudo, pecorino and focaccia were the best sides for this evening of original Italian flavours.
I now go back to Termini for a ciao or more and I do feel like home even in the centre of the most touristic place in the world and being not Italian. It opens from early in the morning for the first shot of the day and refreshing affogatos and stays open till the last trains leaving London.
