Antiparos: dining under the bougainvilleas at Klimataria

In a fashion-like environment like Antiparos where ephemeral trends are the norm, the small traditional taverna of Klimataria is definitely here to stay! If dining under the shade of the blossomed bougainvilleas in a Greek traditional setting is your thing, then we got you covered.

This homey taverna has been serving tasty Greek food since the early 80s when it first opened and has since been awarded with the Aegean cuisine emblem. Open from 6pm onwards and tending to patrons daily, Klimataria is the perfect spot for right after your summer dip.

As we come back from the beach in the late afternoon, the dizziness from the scorching sun and the saltiness of the water has hit hard on us. Having worked a good appetite, we seek shelter under the lovely shaded veranda and can't wait to get our hands on some tasty Greek treats!

The tomato salad arrives and it's no surprise it's lushed in awesome tasting Greek extra virgin olive oil! Throw in a bit of their local cheese and some caper leaves and you've got yourself a great appettizer! The fried potatoes, sourced from nearby Naxos, are second to none! Meticulously cut by hand and not just a perfect-like cookie-cutter machine, the potatoes' taste is divine! We complement our hors d'oeuvres with a dish of fava spread and some golden zuchinni fritters as we indulge more and more into Klimataria's great cuisine.

It's now way after 7pm and the restaurant is starting to get full - good thing we joined early. Sipping a few more of their local beer, 56 isles as they call it, we wait for our mains to arrive. Aside from a few seafood dishes, what you need to go for is the grilled stuff. Quickly enough, they're here! The lamb chops are very good and the pork steak even better, most of which are sourced locally from the area.

We're almost over, apart from the dessert -for that there's always Vicky's ice cream down the road- and the bill arrives. For 25-30 euros per person, it's the perfect meal!
