Although we sometimes fret any place that serves brunch, lunch and dinner, Fred is a great addition on the brunch food map of Athens… and with lots to long for during any other part of the day.
We find ourselves at the elegantly made all-day café on an early Sunday morning for brunch. Tucked away south of Nea Smyrni’s central square, Fred boasts an immaculate space where wood and soft palette hues dominate. We learn that it just launched a few months ago so we’re eager to get our hands on the long menu.

Even though it’s early on the day, the place is packed with lots of groups of friends that have ventured out for their morning coffee and treats. Shakshuka eggs rank high on our list so along we order a big, hearty portion drizzled with lots of feta cheese for thew twist. And it’s delicious, served with warm, wholesome bread. Besides our egg craving we also order a healthy yoghurt bowl with chia seeds, banana, blueberries and peanut butter. Yum!

The coffee served is also of good quality and the music played complements the nice atmosphere of this vibrant place. After all, the place was named after Freddie Mercury which also evident in the cocktails list that are also named after famous songs of the Queen.
We’re surely be coming back to try those, along with their delicious pinsa that we hear they serve after the morning sessions.
