BIOS has been on the map for more than a couple of decades with its alternative vibe to it and the numerous events around the year. After a few years of experimentation with pop-up food gatherings, they’re now open for proper seatings at their new Taverna @ BIOS offering. And the food is simple yet delicious!
I recently find myself craving a taverna meal on a Sunday afternoon and spontaneously ventured to BIOS for testing their new concept. And although the brunch menu was about to close for that day, we still decided to visit and trying their all-day dishes and a more traditional style menu.
Although they don’t offer lots of dishes, they do offer lots of combos. Perplexed? Well, the thinking is that they separate offerings on three groups and for each dish you get to mix and match ingredients from each one. One ingredient from each group, make a dish. Think, meatballs with potatoes and fresh chopped tomatoes. Which, by the way, was the simplest but most delicious item on the menu.
We did try the country-style sausages, as well as their traditional butter pasta that were also good. For starters, we devoured some grilled bread with tomato paste (year, strong in taste and smooth in texture) together with some Greek olives.
And while food was good, what we really loved was the homey feeling of the place with a lovely window to the Acropolis at the back for big groups. Make sure you reserve a table before heading there or you’ll be surprised!
