Emanating a vibe from the 50s and good ol’ tavernas of your hood (or out further away from the city), Ta Kanaria is the perfect destination (away from the city centre) to enjoy shrimps and fish. As simple as that.

Truth is, they did open back in the 50s when George Argyropoulos opened this traditional taverna with his two sons Thanasis and Spyros. With a dead simple menu, featuring fried shrimps and grilled fish, Ta Kanaria has managed to retain loyal clients for so many decades because of their specialisation and great vibe. Whether you sit outside in the garden or indoors by the wooden wine barrels, you’ll definitely enjoy the vibe despite the sometimes relatively slow service.

Make sure you say yes when prompted to try their dessert. They serve a tasty semolina halva but above all a homemade conserve of orange, bergamot and mandarin. What a delight!
