A Sunday morning with nice weather, makes it the perfect day for a leisurely brunch in the center of Athens. Located in a neoclassical building in Kolonaki, Philos instantly impressed me with its elegant and industrial design.
When you first walk in, you immediately notice the marble walls, the glass tables and the big windows that let the sunlight right through. Its space reminded me of a house, with small rooms connected to each other.
The service staff is very polite and welcoming and the food delicious, cooked with high quality products. For the main dishes, all the types of eggs were offered so we decided to go for both poached and scrambled. Definitely try kayianas, the Greek version of scrambled eggs served with tomato sauce, cherry tomatoes and meat on a toasted bread. I also recommend getting the roasted asparagus with garlic oil and pamesan, served with mushroom and potato puree on a baguette – a combination that definitely worked better than I expected! Also, you shouldn’t miss on the Philos Benedict, comprised of two poached eggs with salmon, avocado and hollandaise on a brioche. For dessert, we had the pancakes with chocolate and banana… and trust me, they taste as good as they look!
Tip: The place is small (only 7 tables) so make sure you make a reservation before visiting.
