When the sun shines, sometimes it’s not necessary to enjoy your lunch close to the sea. There are some restaurants, which are located in green areas of Athens, like Vrilissia. This is the case of Mammoth Slow Food restaurant.

Mammoth Slow Food, with French bistro influence, is close to Penteli suburban railway station, only three minutes walking distance. It’s located on the luscious Eleftherias square, where despite the busy and crowded area around it, you can still enjoy your lunch or dinner quietly.

But this is not only the only good thing going for Mammoth Slow Food. The flavors and the dishes of this small restaurant are amazing. It’s menu changes daily, but there are some dishes which are a must! Stuffed sardines with tomatoes, peppers, garlic and spinach as a side, tagliatelle with smoked Crete’s apaki, zucchini, peppers, parsley, should be tasted in case you visit it. Try the salad with lentils and bio quinoa, the pie with green pumpkins, semolina and cheese. Haloumi cheese should not be missed and in case you want to taste chicken souvlaki, the one that is served will flirt your senses. It’s marinaded with the exceptional Mammoth sauce and it’s served either with rice or fried / mash potatoes. The choice is up to you!

Regarding the wine list, this is a surprise. Most of the wines are bio and their labels are many, which will satisfy even the most demanding customers.

Finally, Mammoth Slow Food has beautiful and so kind people. The owner of the restaurant welcomes you with a smile. The waiters recommend dishes and the wine that matches best. They take care of you from the moment you arrive to the moment you will leave. They are polite and on their faces you see that they enjoy what they do. They don’t accept their customers to leave disappointed and this is one of the many reasons that you will visit the Mammoth again and again.

Tip: make your reservation before you arrive. It’s not only a dine in restaurant; it also delivers.
