Tucked away in Pagrati, Aswtos has taken over the former Frater & Sorror space, breathing new life into this historic corner. Led by chef Michalis Merzenis, alongside a team of hospitality heavyweights, the restaurant offers a seamless mix of elevated comfort food, crafted cocktails, and warm industrial vibes.
The space strikes a balance between nostalgia and modern flair. Exposed concrete meets white linens, a towering bar spans floor-to-ceiling, and soft lighting sets the tone. Whether you’re at a table, cozying up in the loft, or perched at the bustling bar, the atmosphere feels just right—especially for a romantic evening.

We started with the sourdough bread infused with trahanas and served with house-made butter—simple but unforgettable! The grilled cabbage salad is a standout, with tangy buttermilk dressing, pickled carrot, and a hint of cumin that evokes a Moroccan vibe. Hazelnuts add just the right crunch. And alongside it, the labneh served with Florina pepper and a drizzle of olive oil. Spectacular!
The Aswtos Bolognese pie delivered a hearty, no-frills satisfaction, leaving a warm, fuzzy feeling. For something special, try the roasted chicken—perfectly tender with a crisp skin, wild mushrooms, and a delicate lemon jus. It’s a dish that will have you coming back.
Dessert is a modern take on the classic serano—a light chocolate mousse layered with just enough sponge cake and a touch of tonka bean. It’s understated but hits the spot.

But above all, is the crowd that fills this newly launched Pangrati spot. The energy in the room, wrapped by the funky tunes in the loudspeakers (there’s a live DJ afterhours) that makes the place so unique. Granted, we felt a bit of the Kolonaki vibe, but still Aswtos is a perfect addition to this lively neighbourhood of Athens.
With its thoughtful menu, inviting atmosphere, and a team that knows how to deliver, Asowtos is a welcome addition to the vibrant Pagrati dining scene.
