When it comes to new places made out of love and an eye for design, count us in! Frater & Soror silently launched in the streets of Pagrati back in November 2018 and here’s why you should soon be planning a trip there: brunch and drinks!

The name should not be strange to you as it comes from the latin words fraternity and sorority. And while this place is not only about boys and girls, it sure is full of great people with a good vibe! Although we didn’t get to experience the lower basement of the building where a secret dining place called Phi Beta Kappa is housed, the bar on the ground floor and the dining space at the top floor are both astounding!

The space is carefully designed and primarily set in an industrial way, infused with bright colors and art pieces creating a great ambience. A wide range of gins, and of tonics – from sweet and aromatic to dry or herby – are served with ice carved fresh on the spot.

The menu is based on seasonality and on creative twists. A main one? The wood oven in the basement that is used by chef Dimos Balopoulos not only cooking but also for delivering a smokey taste to almost anything! Brunch is served until 14:00 on weekends but most of all the place is known for its drinks and cocktails.

Iberico Pork Ribs with red miso and walnuts

We tried a few dishes on offer during Christmas and really enjoyed some – mostly cause the tastes offered were quite complex and new for the Athenian food map. Try this: tender chicken nuggets battered in bread and served in fluffy pancakes with a smoked coleslaw sauce. Another spicy chicken dish was the handmade chicken sausage with peanut sauce (also displayed above).

The best dish we tried was the Iberico pork ribs with red miso and walnuts – quite smokey, spicy but also kind of sweet!

All in all a solid menu – albeit a bit too creative for our liking – and surely a well thought space for some funky nights and drinks in Pagrati. Hear hear!
