There’s something homey about the Athenian neighbourhood of Petralona that I really love, and when good places are coupled with good food that’s what I love more. Kyrios Xou (translates Mr Who) is definitely one of them around and the perfect spot for a coffee or brunch on weekends.
With its hip young crowd, friendly service and tasty dishes, it definitely wins a spot up there.

Poached eggs with prosciutto on farm bread
French toast with banana and praline spread
Its brunch menu is known amongst the foodie circles in the centre of the city, which together with a lovely sunlit patio is a perfect combination for a joyful weekend morning! Last time I was there I tried the poached eggs (minus the Hollandaise sauce) which were tender enough and paired with crunchy farm bread and a couple of prosciutto slices. I also went for some french toast that is actually made with brioche bread (aka Greek tsoureki), topped with some powdered sugar, banana slices and honey – must try! I also heard that their chorizo sandwich with cheddar cheese, rocket and mushrooms is really yummy so maybe next time.
If you really want to get into the weekend vibe you should also try their deep purple cocktail with mastiha liquor, white wine, lime and bitter almond! Locals, and the more traditional ones, opt for Greek coffee during the morning hours but what do they know?
