This is where time goes back to the basics of the original Greek taverna. Lampi in the homonymous beach is a great post-swim retreat for a tasty seafood and meze lunch!

On an early summer afternoon, having spent a day at the beach, we ventured out north, to the beach of Lampi for lunch. We walked along the coast observing the infamous colored pebbles, now under protection of nature lovers of the island, to find ourselves at the cute hidden taverna of Lampi. A few scattered wooden trees ables plastered in light blue paint were placed right on the beach, with a small hut at the back where a tight crew was preparing meals of seafood meze and fresh fish.

Fresh meze like horta (boiled greens), steamed courgettes and saganaki (fried cheese) are the norm here. We dig in and whilst sipping tsipouro on ice with friends, we take note of these small moments right on the beach enjoying summer.

The taverna at Lampi is well served and the food is above whatever else average one can find in Patmos. When we’re done nibbling, we welcome the grilled fish on the table that is tender, juicy and oh so tasty! They know how to grill a fish around here and it also shows on the fact that it is actually served plain – no sauce or anything. This is the real thing.
