It’s a sunny Saturday afternoon in Milan and there is no better place to enjoy this warm weather than Il Salumaio di Montenapoleone. Right next to the famous high-end fashion street of Via Monte Napoleone this vibrant restaurant has become the go-to place for both locals and tourists. It’s basically a “be seen” place that also serves tasty dishes.

By now, you can rarely find places that hold on to tradition and history, but this restaurant has been on the scene since 1957. Long enough right? Located at the historical building Bagatti Valsecchi, you can not only visit their restaurant, but also their delicatessen and cafe bistro.

Enough with all the history though, let’s talk about food!

No matter the size of the party I would say a must have is the burrata with cherry tomatoes, all fresh, juicy and tasteful. However, for large parties, you should definitely consider adding some mixed salami and a selection of cheeses as well. On the other hand, you can never go wrong with a beef capraccio with rocket and parmesan as well.

As for the main course, pasta is always on my mind, especially in Italy, so I would definitely recommend the tagliolini with porcini mushrooms (there’s lots of butter), the rocket and ricotta cheese tortelloni with tomato sauce and the all-time-classic meat ravioli with ragu.

Dessert anyone? It’s completely up to you but if I had to choose I would go for the tiramisu or the fruit tart. Don’t forget to order un caffè along with your sweet treat.

FYI: Don’t forget to book in advance and request for a table by the atrium, should you prefer to enjoy a meal on a sunny warm day.
